Condition and Grading:

Most of our items are in Mint or Near Mint (aka Mint Minus) condition. If no other condition is mentioned in the item description, then the grade is Mint or Near Mint. Please note that all items are visually graded. We do not "play grade" vinyl. Visual grading detects nearly all noise on vinyl records, but there is always the rare exception. If you do happen to have any significant problems playing a vinyl record, please let us know.

If an item is not Mint or Near Mint, it will have a grade in the item description as follows:
 

Grade	Description
VG++	Very Good ++: For a vinyl record, this indicates minor wear or scuff marks, but nothing that noticably affects the play. When used to describe a magazine, photograph or similar item, this indicates a minor tear or abrasion, but nothing that noticably affects the appearance of the item.
VG+	Very Good +: For a vinyl record, this indicates some noticable wear which will cause some noise during play. When used to describe a magazine, photograph or similar item, this indicates a noticable tear or abrasion which may affect the appearance of the item.
VG	Very Good: This indicates significant wear which significantly affects the play of a vinyl record, or the appearance of a paper item. You should expect any item in this condition to be quite worn.
G	Good: Despite the name, this is actually poor condition. We stock very few items in this condition, and you should expect anything listed with this grade to be very rough.

Most radio shows, and some other promotional items come with cue sheets which list the songs, commercial breaks, show times and other information. All items which originally came with cue sheets have cues, unless otherwise noted as "(no cue)."

 

Designations and Abbreviations

The following is a list of most of the descriptions and abbreviations used in our inventory listings. We are always adding new items, so if you don't see a particular abbreviation and have any questions, please feel free to ask.
 

Designation	Description
(PC)	Picture Cover. The item comes in a Picture Cover/Picture Sleeve. This may not be a picture of the artist, but is a custom cover unique to this particular item.
Brief Interviews	These are usually each approximately 1 minute long
Featured Artist	The featured artist is interviewed, music is played by the featured artist and other artists
Guest Host	The artist is in the studio as guest host for the entire show
Live Concert	The artist is recorded live in concert
Live in Studio	The artist performs music live in front of a small studio audience
Music & Interview	Contains album tracks and interviews by the listed artists
Profile	All music and interviews are by/about the listed artist

In some cases, the artist name is followed by a number (example: "Alabama (2)"). This indicates the specific number of songs or interview cuts by that artist. If only a single artist is listed, this is not needed. On multiple artist items, there is one cut only by each artist, unless otherwise noted.

 

A Note on 16" Transcriptions

16" Transcriptions are exactly what the name implies - vinyl records which are 16 inches in diameter, rather than the typical 12 inches diameter. They were produced from the 1930's through the early 1960's for radio station use only, and cannot be played on a normal turntable! From a collector standpoint, they are very rare and interesting - there were very few made, even fewer still exist, and they often contain songs and performances which to this day are still not available anywhere else. Unfortunately, 16" turntables have been in very short supply in recent years, which has limited the number of people who can play these discs. Some companies have recently begun selling new 16" turntables in the $300.00-$400.00 range. We do not have any information on turntable manufacturers, but you may be able to find out more on the web.
